Romantic Tablescapes

Setting an elegant table doesn't have to cost a fortune. I pulled a mirror off my wall to use as the base for my centerpiece, placed a candelabra I already had but you can see I added a smaller candle holder I had and it looks just as elegant...

I sprinkled some little plastic hearts I had purchased from the craft store, pink caramel kisses, a strand of pearls and a few rose votives I had in a closet on the mirror along with a vase full of supermarket roses. If you are lucky enough to have flowers growing in your yard, use what you have. Pull out your best linens, china, silver and glassware. If you don't have enough to complete your table mix and match what you do have. The mirror reflects the candlelight so even if you have just a few votives it will look like so much more.

Dinner doesn't have to be grand or gourmet, just have a special little something for dessert. Preferably chocolate.... I also recommend a sparkling spumante, my fav is Asti Spumante but I have also had less expensive versions and it really never mattered to the hubby. If you have children don't forget to include them for your special dinner, there were many times that we didn't get out when the kids were young, so I just included them and we had pink sparkling cider instead.
Shabby Chic and Romantic Cottage style is about making everyday special...so enjoy!
