Shabby and Chic on a Budget
I have been doing some research on how to put together a gorgeous, chic living room on a budget, most of us these days are watching our dollars a little more closely but that doesn't mean style has to be out. The majority of your decorating budget will be spent on the furniture. Like most of you I would love to be able to invest $8,000.00 for a new slipcovered sofa and two chairs, which is the approximate price it would cost from a well known brand, so for those of you wanting an affordable option this is what I have found........

Name brand..... $4,095.00

Ikea....... $ 399.00

Pink ....... $ 499.99

Floral ......... $ 499.00

Name Brand chair...... $ 2,100.00

Ikea ........ $ 249.00

....... $ 349.00
Grand total for a sofa and two chairs in white would be around $ 800.00. Now as a designer I know the concept that you get what you pay for and quality versus price but sometimes you are asked to pay for more then you get. This line at Ikea is not crafted as well as the name brand and will not be family heirlooms but it is beautiful, solid and includes the luxury of the soft feather wrapped cushions. I was happy with the look and feel on inspection and it was comfy. It is a perfect solution for getting the chic look and style without the price. You can visit IKEA at www.ikea.com .
I would also like to share with you a new friends blog that I think you will all love. Her pictures, ideas and projects are wonderful. Here is a picture of her romantic bedroom ...
After I wrote this post I visited her blog again and found she just purchased an IKEA chair. I told her I thought we were a lot alike, now I am sure we are! Be sure and visit her blog and have fun catching up on all her posts:
